The Department of Linguistics and Languages hosted a two-day workshop on Popular Culture, Digitalities, and Inter-Knowledge Production in East African Literatures from 18th to 19th February 2025. The event brought together scholars, researchers, and literary enthusiasts to explore the intersections of popular culture, digital transformation, and knowledge exchange in East African literary landscapes.
The workshop was convened by Dr. Charles Kebaya, a senior lecturer from Machakos University and Dr. Doseline Kiguru, a lecturer from the University of Bristol. Through engaging discussions, presentations, and interactive sessions, participants examined how digital platforms are shaping literary production, dissemination, and consumption in East Africa.
The forum provided a dynamic space for intellectual exchange, fostering collaborations between academia and creative industries. Scholars explored into the role of digital media in amplifying cultural narratives, the evolving nature of storytelling in the digital age, and the impact of inter-knowledge production on contemporary East African literature.
